Building Durable Business.
Hallam Advisory is a senior, independent strategy and technology advisory firm. We work with leaders that want to take advantage of technology to create organisations that endure. To us that means building businesses that work well, today and tomorrow.
Senior, independent advice and experience. Clarity on the decisions that matter most and the confidence to act.
Strategy through to execution. We partner for the result, not the recommendation.
Technology and business strategy, together. You can't do either well in isolation.
Advice backed by proprietary research and IP. Published frameworks and benchmarks to accelerate strategic clarity.
Aligned to durability. The aim is not a better-looking strategy. It's a more durable business.
Technology strategy is part of business strategy.
You can’t do one well without the other. Yet, too often, we treat technology as an after-thought rather than as a core part of how businesses compete. Durable businesses take advantage of technology as part of their strategy and match their business model with the technology era.
Business Strategy
A clear and executable strategy is the foundation of a durable business.
We help our clients to build durable businesses by ensuring strategy is relevant to the technology era now, and best prepared for what is to come.
This means helping our clients to make choices about where to compete, how to win, where to invest, and what not to do.
You can't be all things to all people. A strategy that tries to serve everyone, compete everywhere, and do everything is not a strategy. It is a plan to be average.
Technology Strategy
Technology decisions are business decisions. Businesses are too complex to run manually.
We cut through the noise, fear, and hype of technology to help our clients make clear, confident choices about where to invest, what to build, what to avoid, and why.
We help businesses take advantage of technology. Not the other way around. The impact of technology should be visible, tangible and measurable.
Business Model Design
Many organisations are using business models that were designed for a different era.
We help our clients to make their business models match-fit for the current market and technology trends, and prepared for what's next.
Your business model is pivotal to the way your business will create, capture, and deliver value. It also determines which structural advantages are available, and whether they will compound.
A good strategy, paired with the wrong business model or technology era, will plateau.
Performance & Evolution
Good strategies create value when they are executed well, and they are designed to evolve.
Intuitively, we understand the world is constantly changing. Yet, often our organisations are designed to be static and managers are incentivised to optimise for today at the expense of tomorrow.
We work alongside our clients through execution, organisational change, and value realisation, to help them realise the benefits of their strategy.
We also build the learning systems that help organisations notice change early, and evolve ahead of it, rather than waiting to be forced.
Our IP is just the beginning.
We build the frameworks, playbooks, benchmarks and tools so you don't need to.
Durability Principles
The businesses that endure are not just better run. They are built differently.
The Durability Principles are used to create defensible advantages in the business of today whilst preparing to evolve into the business of tomorrow.
The five principles work as a system to merge business strategy with technology strategy, helping organisations to take advantage of technology, and build durability into their business.
The principles define the characteristics of a Durable Business.
Business Model Playbook
The Business Model Playbook catalogues and compares 27 business model archetypes through the different technology eras, from the Industrial Revolution to the AI era.
The playbook captures how shifts in technology, infrastructure, societal norms and market logic enable different models of value creation, delivery, and capture.
Not just what is the business model. But when to use it, how to implement it, how to scale it, how to defend it.
Durability Index
Most advice is backward looking. It draws on what has worked before, in different markets, under different conditions, applied by judgment to a new context.
The Durability Index is forward-looking. It's built on the Durability Principles and predicts durability rather than describing it after the fact.
The Index helps you see where advantage is building or eroding, before it shows up in the numbers.
A new type of advisory business.
We want to change the way businesses work and shift the benchmark for productivity, innovation & performance. Ours included. We are ready for the AI-era. Are you?
